New association to advocate increasing supplies of rare earth elements used in new technologies. A new organization has formed to promote the development of rare earth elements vital to many modern technologies. RARE, The Association for Rare Earth, launched Oct. 11 with the mission of increasing the availability of elements like neodymium and scandium, while lowering their cost. The group is calling for the creation of a national stockpile of rare earth materials and eliminating trade barriers that limit access to them.
